Encore une référence Orwellienne pour anoncer une action d'Ecosy.

Alors que l'Europe va aborder la question du régime Birman dans un avenir proche (dont la victime la plus célèbre est sans aucun doute le prix nobel de la paix Mme Aung Sun Suu Kyi), les jeunes socialistes européens lancent une campagne visnat à durcir la position européenne vis-à-vis de ce pays d'asie du sud est.

La cour de cassation a annulé hier la condamnation de Bahar Kimyongür et des autres militants du DHKP-C.

Un solide coup porté aux lois anti-terroristes et dont on ne peut que se féliciter, pour peu qu'on soit prêt à faire primer une certaine idée de la liberté sur l'illusion d'une prétendue "sécurité".

Cela dit, les procédures ne sont pas arrivées à leur terme et les poursuites reprendront prochainement devant la cour d'appel d'Anvers. A suivre.

Solidarity with the Spanish Civil War Veterans in Poland

So, as I promissed to start posting in English once in a while, let us open this trend with a call for solidarity.

I recently received a petition signed by an association called "Amis des Combattants en Espagne Républicaine", concerning yet another completely scandalous move of the twin brothers in Poland. After having tried to get rid of women's right (they failed an attempt to change the constitution in order to ban abortion), they are now willing to starve off the polish veterans of the International Brigades and to erase their memory of the polish national history.

The text reads as follow:

Warsaw’s Government is currently putting up measures aiming at erasing from their national History the memory of the polish « brigadistes » who defended the Spanish Republic against the aggression of Franco, Hitler, Mussolini and Salazar. The Polish authorities are qualifying the brigadistes as “traitors and criminals”.

Several dispositions and a law proposal are being elaborated now against the brigadistes: suppression of the war veterans’ grant, renaming of streets and schools in Warsaw that were named after the veterans of the Dombrowski brigade. In the eye of the polish government, the brigadistes are traitors as they went fighting in Spain “in order to build up communism” and as they allegedly contributed to strengthen the “totalitarian regime” by becoming an “influent group” inside the polish communist party.

Polish authorities had already stroke off the warsaw’s monument to the unknown soldier, the name of the main battles the Polish brigadistes took part in in Spain (Ebro, Brunete and Jarama).

After the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War, many Poles, whether communist or not, joined in the International Brigades. Their own was named after Dombrowski[1]. Several hundreds among them were killed in action, and many veterans took an important part in the resistance to the Nazi occupation. Poland is kicking the brigadistes out of its history, while Estonia is paying repeated official homage to former SS. Without the EU voicing any reaction – while these two countries are to be counted among the “27”.

Measures announced in Warsaw are provoking strong reactions in Spain. In Paris, the “Association des amis des combatants en Espagne Républicaine” invites you to sign the protest petition to be addressed to the polish government.

People who had known me for some time know by now that I'm more attracted to black and red than to the hammer and sickle. And I would probably not feel perfectly at ease with the people in this Association, considering that communists were not exactly tender towards Anarchists and Trots in the late thirties in Spain.

But still, the attitude of the Polish Government is outrageous, and a complete historical nonsense.

I think it is well worth the pain to remind some people that

1. the Communist Party of Poland was not in speaking terms with Stalin in the thirties (mainly because of its radical anti-nazi attitude standing in the way of the Germano-soviet Pact). To the point that it has been dissolved and many of its leaders fell in the 1936 trials under the ridiculous accusation of "Trotskyism and Fascism".

2. most of the Brigades' veterans were either in the Resistance during the war... or in the Mauthausen concentration camp - and were not too eager to go back to a place were the new reformed polish communist party did not want to welcome them anyway.

So, pretending that these people became an important totalitarian group inside the Polish Communist party sounds a bit like an overstatement.

La phrase du mois (au moins!)

Ca ne va pas améliorer la collusion média-politique...

En France, la situation est sans doute plus dramatique encore si on pense au nombre de présentateurs et -trices de JT qui sont purement et simplement en ménage avec qui un ministre, qui une figure politique en vue, etc., etc.

Mais bon, après Fredrique Ries qui quitte RTL pour rejoindre les rangs du MR comme parlementaire européenne, voila que le CdH réalise le transfert en or de cette période de Mercato pré-électoral. Anne Delvaux abandonne -enfin j'espère - les commandes du journal de la RTBF pour se présenter sur les listes cathos au Sénat.

Qu'une journaliste s'intéresse à la vie politique, c'est plutôt une bonne chose mais, tout de même, je trouve le procédé un peu gros, surtout alors que la campagne est déjà bien lancée. Enfin soit, je suppose qu'après les transferts de Martou et Simons, le PS est plutôt mal placé pour faire des commentaires. Tout le mal que je souhaite à Delvaux, c'est de ne pas finir comme sa prédécesserice (-euse?? euh...).

Et puis, positivons et prenons-nous à rêver une minute: ce serait peut-être l'occasion de voir revenir Hadja Labib tous les soirs dans notre salon!

La plume et le goupillon.

Je ne peux que me réjouir de la réaction unanime aux propos scandaleux de Monseigneur Leonard sur l'homosexualité. Qu'on puisse encore être convaincu aujourd'hui que les homos sont des déviants, tenant d'un comportement "anormal", c'est tout simplement renversant.

Mais, dans le registre des clichés, je me demande si cette petite phrase de Dominique Minten, journaliste au Standaard, publiée dans le Soir de ce week end allumera les mêmes passions.

Alors que depuis trois semaines, ces deux quotidiens se sont lancés dans la publication d'une série supposée casser les idée reçues Nord/Sud, le journaliste déclare, la bouche en coeur: "Le problème, c'est qu'il n'y a pratiquement aucun allochtone ou musulman qui travaille dans les médias flamands. A quoi cela tient-il? je n'en sais rien. Peut-être le métier de journaliste n'interesse-t-il pas les jeunes allochtones?"

Mais bien sur! C'est comme les femmes dans les conseils d'administration! Ca ne les intéresse peut-être pas, finalement. Et à contrario, si on trouve une proportion tout à fait incroyable de femmes d'origines immigrées parmi les "techniciennes de surface" ou de chomeurs parmi les wallons, c'est tout bêtement parce que ce sont des jobs (ou des non-jobs) qui les interessent. Comment n'y avait-on pas pensé plus tôt.

Arrêtons vite de réfléchir aux causes pour amener des réponses satisfaisantes: Dominique Minten nous a livré l'explication de l'exclusion sociale. C'est tout simplement parceque les exclus ne s'interessent pas au champs dont ils sont exclus. Merci Dominique!

Blogosphère

Parmi les outils statistiques de gestion de blog, il y a une petite fonction bien sympathique intitulée "Recent come from". En un mot, ça me permet de savoir quels sont les blogs qui pointent vers nicarquanniseuf (oui, il parait que le blogger branché ne dit pas "mon blog" mais appelle celui-ci par son titre -vous ne voudriez tout de même pas qu'on puisse dire que ce n'est pas un blog branché, non?) et d'aller y jeter un oeil curieux et/ou reconnaissant.

Parmi les plus récents, plusieurs lecteurs viennent de http://www.leblogdelio.be. "Tiens! mais qui c'est ce Lio?" me demandais-je plein d'entrain. Et bien, il n'y a pas de Lio. C'est bien plus drôle que ça: notre camarade président Elio blogue. Sans blague... Enfin, lui sans doute avec un petit coup de pouce de son entourage - Florence Coppenole ou Jean-François Mahieu, je suppose, mais bon, c'est un gars plus occupé que moi, je ne lui lancerais donc pas la première bière si 100% de ses posts n'étaient pas tapés de ses propres mimines.

Bref, j'ai l'honneur de vous annoncer que cette page fait officiellement partie des "blogs amis" du patron. Merci Président mais après ça il va encore y en avoir pour dire que les JS font du manchabalisme!

En tout état de cause, je ne peux que me réjouir de voir que le parti se décide enfin à engager le débat d'idée sur un terrain qu'il a trop longtemps délaissé: le web. J'espère que les initiatives dans ce sens se multiplieront et que les militants auront à coeur de montrer que pour nous, la base, la ligne du parti gagnerait à se montrer plus agressive.

Par la même occasion, ça m'a permis de découvrir un outre petit outil bien pratique: http://politique.belgoblog.com, un aggrégateur reprenant un large spectre de blogs politiques belges. N'hésitez pas à vous en servir immodérément, même s'il est encore loin de couvrir l'ensemble de la blogosphère politique de notre plat pays.

Congrès Ecosy 3 - ET vient le grand jour...

Samedi matin à l'aube. Tout le monde est très nerveux, au contraire de certains beaucoup d'entre nous n'ont dormi qu'une heure ou deux.

Vient mon tour de m'adresser au congrès pour présenter ma candidature... Et non, vous n'échapperez pas au discours ;)

Dear Comrades, dear Friends,

First of all, please let me introduce myself. I’m Brian Booth, 28 years old and for the last two years, I’ve been active as Bureau Member of Ecosy, mandated by MJS Belgium.

During these two years, I had the pleasure and honour to directly or indirectly take part in almost every Ecosy activity, getting the chance to meet with activists from all the fraternal, associate and member organisation of our common structure, during the bureau meetings, of course, but also during the many seminars and formative activities that were set up during the mandate that is about to close.
Whether held in the Kurt Löwenstein Educational Center of our Comrades from the Falken movement, in Esbjerg, thanks to the hospitality of DSU or in the European Parliament in Brussels, these events have been the occasion of many fruitful debates and conversations that fuelled the work inside the Bureau.

In a few hours from now, we will reach the climax of this work and one of the most important moments in the life of our organisation, marking the outcome of this two years of work: the definition and approval of our Position Paper.
This will mark the end of a cycle but also – which is much more important to us – the beginning of a new one. And this cycle will only tend towards one goal: winning the European elections of 2009.

Only with a clear victory of the socialist and social-democratic parties across Europe in those elections will the newly elected presidium of Ecosy be in a position to implement the political lines that we will define together this afternoon and tomorrow. Only then will we stand a chance to implement our view of what Europe should be when it comes to public services, intergenerational solidarity, employment, the struggle for social inclusion or the fight against the rise of right-wing extremism. This is the reason why I am convinced of the necessity to have a strong Ecosy for the upcoming mandate.

“United we stand, Divided we fall”. For all of us on the left of the centre, this is not just a saying. This is the straightforward expression of what makes our strength. Union in our own organisation, fighting all together on the line fixed in the position paper. But also Union with our fraternal organisations, especially in the trade union movement – ETUC Youth in this case.
Loads of battles cannot be won through political lobby alone. Recent history shows us that it is when the whole of the left get together campaigning in the streets, on the field, knocking on every doorstep to convince people of the urge to defend our positions, that the left wins the day, that it can turn the tide of social regression that conservativesand neo-liberal forces are trying to impose on us. A strong Ecosy can and must be the spearhead of such a dynamic of victory, as it has been when it came to such important issues as the Bolkestein directive, to name but one example.

Dear friends and comrades, it is in this perspective, to initiate such a dynamic of victory towards 2009 for a strong Ecosy in a strong social movement that I am putting myself at the full disposal of our common organisation, if this congress would give me the mandate to do so.

Je serais surpris que ce discours ait eu le moindre effet sur les votants, surtout comparé à l'extraordinaire boulot fourni par ma délégation, mais toujours est-il qu'en définitive, je suis passé. Un vrai miracle.

Congrès Ecosy - 2

Un congrès Ecosy, c'est d'abord beaucoup de bruit, beaucoup de mouvement, beaucoup de travail, notamment dans la défense des amendements au texte d'orientation - au menu: un beau débat sur la flexécurité, le systèmle de pension, les services publics, j'en passe et des meilleurs.

Mais c'est aussi l'occasion de retrouver d'excellents amis et camarades, qu'on soit sur la même ligne ou à des années-lumières les uns des autres. Dans nos valises, au titre de vétérans: deux figures historiques d'ECOSY et du MJS - Antonio Gambini et Yonnec Pollet. Et dans les couloirs, la joie de retrouver des types qui m'ont appris beaucoup, vraiment marqué humainement et - ce qui ne gache rien- n'ont rien perdu de leur (im)pertinence en termes politiques, comme Eric Sundström ou Basha Nowacka - toutes mes félicitations à l'heureuse maman, d'ailleurs.*

Mais c'est aussi la recherche forcenée de compromis: je ne suis pas prêt d'oublier les trois propositions de concensus, balayées d'un revers de la main par des gens trop sur de leur "majorité", en particulier de la dernière tentative, après avoir pourchassé un délégué à travers la moitié de Varsovie pour se faire entendre dire "qu'il ne réveillerait pas ses collègues à 6h du vote". Une remarque qui a fait tomber la machoire à plus d'un: c'était pour eux bien la première fois que tout le monde dormait si tôt lors d'un Congrès!

Et enfin ce sont parfois des coups bas qu'on à peine à imaginer dans une organisation politique: drôle d'effet d'entendre par la bande que certains font campagne contre moi avec cet argument choc "Brian? Mais il ne sent pas bon!". Ami lecteur, bientôt ce blog en odorama.

* Ca n'exclus pas le plaisir de retrouver des camarades toujours actifs: Maurice Claessens, Simone Burger et Nils Hindelsmann, Estelle Göger, Susi Hasslinger, Torsten Engeland et Kati Hellwagner, nos camarades irlandais et slovènes, j'en passe et des meilleurs!

Congrès Ecosy - 1 le contexte

Voila, chose promise chose due, un petit compte rendu en deux - trois temps du congrès d'Ecosy.

Tout d'abord le contexte. Souvenez-vous, il y a deux ans. Cascais, Portugal. Après une campagne sans concession autour de la candidature de David Lebon (MJS - France) à la présidence d'ECOSY, "la gauche" de l'organisation se trouvait complètement marginalisée: seuls les jusos allemands parvenaient à arracher une vice-présidence, tandis qu'Ania Szkrypek se faisait élire au Secrétariat Général.

Durant ce mandat, l'objectif principal fut donc de ramener la gauche dans le jeu. De la constitution à Bolkestein, en passant par le pacte jeunesse ou la campagne "Europe Sociale pour tous", nous avons été de tous les combats dans ce but. Dès lors le Congrès de Varsovie, tenu du 29 mars au 1er avril, devait consacrer ces deux ans d'efforts... ou approfondir les divisions au sein des Jeunes Socialistes européens.

La délégation MJS à ce congrès était à la hauteur de l'enjeu, puisqu'elle comptait, outre mon insignifiante personne, 7 délégués (la délégation "standard" compte maximum 6 personnes):

- Tome Andrade, président du MJS et ex-secrétaire international,
- Isabelle Minsier, membre de l’exécutif du MJS et ex-présidente de la fédération de Charleroi,
- François Graas, notre coordinateur,
- Aurore Gilson, présidente de la fédération de Bruxelles,
- Antoine Delcourt, militant JS et candidat Bureau Member Ecosy,
- Ozlem Ozen, militante JS et échevine à Aiseau-Presle.
- Pascale Falek, militante JS et assistante parlementaire d’Olga Zrihen (ex-parlementaire européenne).

Dziedziniec Zamku Królewskiego, tuż przed obchodami 10. rocznicy konstytucji. Kwaśniewski do dziennikarzy pytających go o powrót do polityki: Ja już wróciłem!
Wciąż jednak nie bardzo wiadomo, gdzie jest jego miejsce. Politycy SLD, których o to pytamy, rozkładają ręce. - Olek, popychany przez PiS, skoczył do basenu, ale nie zdążył nalać wody. Robi to teraz, w pośpiechu.
Wczorajsze obchody były próbą mobilizacji wokół niego przeciwników IV RP. - Zobaczymy, kto przyjdzie, jaka jest obecna siła przyciągania Kwaśniewskiego. Na razie wśród elit - powiedział nam jeden z pomysłodawców obchodów.
Były prezydent zorganizował je wraz z LiD.
Uczestnik: - Obrona III RP, w tym konstytucji, proeuropejskość, obrona praw człowieka, czyli przekonanie, że to jednostka jest najważniejsza, wolny rynek - to wartości, wokół których można coś zbudować. Nie zagospodarowała ich żadna siła polityczna. PO jest na to zbyt konserwatywno-prawicowa, a wyznaje je przecież większość Polaków mających dość Kaczyńskich i Giertycha. Odbyło się pierwsze większe spotkanie tych, którzy w tych sprawach myślą podobnie. Chciałbym, żeby na rocznicę wejścia do UE doszło do kolejnego. W końcu wykluje się coś nowego, powstanie nowa tożsamość.
„Gazeta”: Partia?
- Partia, koalicja albo jeszcze coś innego.
Tuż przed spotkaniem na Zamku były prezydent przemawiał do delegatów na odbywającym się w Warszawie kongresie Młodzieżówki Partii Europejskich Socjalistów (ECOSY). Nazwał Unię „fantastycznym projektem”. I przekonywał, że UE potrzebuje lewicy, bo to ona reprezentuje takie wartości jak demokracja czy tolerancja.
- Aleksander, chcemy, byś powrócił, byś znów rządził Polską i Europą - odpowiedział szef ECOSY Giacomo Filibeck.
Polityk SLD: - Kwaśniewski wystartował. Są przeszkody - najpierw taśmy Oleksego, potem osocze. Zobaczymy, jak daleko dobiegnie.

Europa was potrzebuje, ponieważ to wy będziecie kontynuować dzieło ojców założycieli zjednoczonej Europy. Walczcie o swoje ideały, wartości, o lepszą Europę - apelował do kilkuset młodych działaczy lewicy z całej Europy były prezydent Aleksander Kwaśniewski podczas kongresu ECOSY w Warszawie.
Zakończony w niedzielę kongres ECOSY - Młodzieżówki Partii Europejskich Socjalistów (PES) współorganizowała młodzieżówka SLD - Federacja Młodych Socjaldemokratów (FMS).
Jak mówił na zakończenie Kongresu Kwaśniewski, sam jest politykiem, który swoją karierę rozpoczął w młodym wieku i jest dowodem na to, że młodzież może odnosić sukcesy. Były prezydent przekonywał, że Europa potrzebuje lewicy, ponieważ - jak mówił - to lewica reprezentuje najważniejsze wartości, takie jak demokracja, poszanowanie praw człowieka oraz praw wszelkich mniejszości, w tym również praw homoseksualistów.
"Mamy wielki potencjał, dajmy przykład lewicy świata" - wzywał Kwaśniewski. Podkreślił także znaczenie Unii Europejskiej jako "fantastycznego projektu" opartego na pokoju, dialogu i kompromisie. Przypomniał, że Unię stworzyły państwa, które kilkanaście lat toczyły ze sobą wojnę. Podkreślił także wagę ostatniego rozszerzenia UE, które pozwoliło m.in. Polsce stać się częścią zjednoczonej Europy. Apelował jednocześnie do młodzieży, aby dbała o to, by granice Unii zostały otwarte dla innych krajów, które chciałyby do nich dołączyć.
"Utrzymujcie kontakty z rówieśnikami z innych krajów, oni potrzebują waszej wiedzy i doświadczenia" - zachęcał młodzież Kwaśniewski. "Musicie być zdeterminowani, by pracować na rzecz demokracji, poszanowania praw człowieka, praw mniejszości, praw kobiet, tolerancji, rozszerzenia Europy, dobrej pozycji Europy w procesie globalizacji. Życzę wam wszystkiego najlepszego" - powiedział na zakończenie były prezydent, który za swoje przemówienie dostał gorącą owację.
"Aleksander, chcemy byś powrócił, byś znów rządził Polską i Europą dla przyszłych pokoleń" - odpowiedział Kwaśniewskiemu szef ECOSY Giacomo Filibeck. W trzydniowym kongresie ECOSY wzięli udział także m.in. były premier Danii a obecnie szef PES Poul Nyrup Rasmussen oraz dyrektor Światowej Organizacji Handlu Pascal Lamy.
Uczestnicy Kongresu wybierali też nowe władze ECOSY. Swe stanowiska na ponowną kadencję zachowali Filibeck i sekretarz generalny ECOSY, Polka Anna Skrzypek.
